At SMS Alba we pride ourselves on being able to provide the most relevant health and safety services helping our clients to reduce the risk of accidents, take the necessary steps to minimise danger and remain compliant with industry regulations. By ensuring that we have a flexible, qualified and experienced team of health and safety advisors, we are able to assist you with services including site and scaffold inspections, accident investigations, task specific risk assessments/method statements and Construction Phase Plans.
Every employer is required under law to appoint a competent person(s) to assist them in meeting their legal health and safety obligations. In order to minimise any financial outlay many companies retain a consultant to undertake the role of advisor to their company on health and safety matters.
RAMS, PCIP & CPHS Plans
We have an experienced team who have many years’ experience in writing up construction site documentation for the Client, Architects, Principal Contractors and individual Contractors. Our documentation has been scrutinised and always gets signed off with little or no amendments by in-house H&S representatives, Principal Contactor agents HSE Inspectors and to the individual responsible Site Managers.
Our diverse skills and experience enables us to provide a bespoke service for all of our clients.
Health & Safety Policy
It is a legal requirement that you have a health and safety policy and is kept up to date. We aim to provide your company with a safety policy that is concise, relevant and accurate.
We can review your policy for you every year, to incorporate changes in legislation that affect you, whilst altering other aspects of your safety arrangements if necessary.
We can also help you to create a training matrix, which will identify who needs to do what, and when it needs renewing, giving you the confidence to know that you are complying with your legal duties
Contractor Accreditation Schemes
Third party accreditation schemes or Pre-Qualification Questionnaires are extremely common and can often provide a major challenge to companies who need accreditation to join tender lists or even to maintain clients.
There are numerous accreditation schemes, some of which are members of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) such as CHAS, SMAS, Safe Contractor and Constructionline, other schemes operated by particular large organisations e.g. Avetta for Aggregate Industries.
SMS Alba is experienced in assisting companies successfully achieve or renew accreditations. Our policy is to work with clients so that they recognise and can document the good work they are already doing. We provide guidance in improving safety systems so that acceptable levels of management can be simply adopted as part of the company’s way of working. It is important that we work with and mentor organisations throughout the accreditation process so that they can maintain levels of safety during the year and are in a position to easily achieve accreditation at every annual renewal.
The level of our involvement can vary depending on your requirements and we can be as hands-on as you want or simply provide an on-call service, however we are always available at the other end of the phone.
